Job Overview

The Safety Coordinator plays a key role in fostering a strong, proactive safety culture across Wright-Ryan’s facilities and construction projects. Working closely with the Director of Safety, this hands‑on, field‑oriented position supports the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the company’s safety program while ensuring compliance with OSHA and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.

The Safety Coordinator will help ensure that safety remains an integral part of how Wright‑Ryan plans, builds, and operates every day.

Job Requirements
  • Collaborate with project teams, superintendents, and subcontractors to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Travel to project sites to perform safety evaluations, identify hazards, implement immediate corrections, and complete formal audit reports in collaboration with the Director of Safety.
  • Conduct quarterly inspections of equipment, fall protection systems, ladders, scaffolding, and other critical safety items, documenting findings and ensuring timely corrective actions.
  • Assist the Director of Safety with new-hire orientations, safety trainings, root‑cause analysis of safety incidents and near‑misses, and corrective action reports.
  • Support and participate in incident investigations, including evidence collection, interviews, and documentation.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and other educational sessions for field personnel and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate safety documentation, including inspection reports, audit findings, training and certification records, and corrective action tracking.
  • Maintain working knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1926 and related standards) and ensure site compliance through proactive monitoring and coaching.
Education, Experience, And Skills
  • High school diploma required;
    Associate degree in safety or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of progressive safety experience in construction, preferably with a general contractor.
  • OSHA 30-hour construction certification preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and applicable federal/state safety regulations.
  • Experience with incident investigation methodologies and root‑cause analysis preferred.
  • Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills interacting with all levels of internal staff, clients, architects, vendors, subcontractors, and other business partners.
  • Ability to train and motivate teams on safety protocols.
  • Collaborates effectively in a dynamic, small-team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Eager to learn with the ability to quickly adopt new concepts.
  • Experience working with construction and safety management software and technology such as Procore and Microsoft Office suite preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to walk construction sites, climb ladders/stairs, and inspect elevated work areas as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 3–4 days per week by personal or company vehicle to project sites and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
