Educational Technician III
Westbrook Regional Vocational Center is seeking a dynamic full-time Educational Technician III, beginning the school year. The Educational Technician III is an integral member of our instructional team, helping create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive. By building strong relationships with students and collaborating closely with instructors, the Educational Technician supports student success through encouragement, guidance, and individualized assistance that promotes academic growth, career readiness, and personal responsibility.
Responsibilities include assisting instructors with classroom and laboratory activities, supporting hands-on learning experiences, reinforcing concepts and skills introduced during instruction, and helping students stay engaged and productive throughout the learning process. The Educational Technician may work with individual students or small groups to provide additional clarification, practice, or support as needed to help students meet academic and technical learning goals. This position involves daily physical demands, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting and carrying materials and equipment, and actively assisting students during hands-on projects.
It requires work in a variety of learning environments, including classrooms, technical shop spaces, and active off-site construction and job sites. The successful candidate must be comfortable working both indoors and outdoors and be prepared to work in varying weather conditions, including seasonal elements.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with classroom organization and management, supporting student participation and collaboration, monitoring student progress, providing class coverage when the instructor is unavailable, and helping maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will contribute to a culture of high expectations, student achievement, and workforce readiness while supporting the diverse needs and strengths of all learners.
Because this position primarily supports students in the Building Trades and Electrical programs, candidates should possess a working knowledge of construction-related mathematics, including measurement, fractions, area, volume, and basic geometry. The ideal candidate will demonstrate basic carpentry skills, familiarity with common hand and power tools and safety procedures, or have a willingness to learn alongside students and instructor(s), as well as showcase practical problem-solving skills, patience, flexibility, strong organizational skills, and a genuine commitment to helping students build confidence, independence, problem-solving abilities, and workplace readiness.
The successful candidate will be a collaborative team member who is adaptable to the evolving needs of students, programs, and the school community, and will perform other duties as assigned.
