The Estimator 1 is focused on providing detailed estimates to our customers in a timely manner. Regularly work from architectural drawings and specifications, shop drawings or elevation take-offs and reports to the Estimating Supervisor. This role is perfect for an individual who is organized, a self-starter with the ability to handle multiple projects, and prioritize workload. A vital member of the Estimating Department

• Evaluate bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that the required data is obtained to successfully bid and win the project. Estimators must aggressively follow-up with subcontractors to ensure that bids are received. Estimators also work with the Project Management teams to follow-up on bids and budgets to close the business.
• Create stock length cost proposals for customers based on elevation take-offs, using our price book and computer software.
• Provide detailed estimates to our customers in a timely manner. Work from architectural drawings and specifications, shop drawings or elevation take-offs.
• Follow up on estimates and provide feedback concerning market pricing levels.
• Achieve acceptable sales and margin levels. Monitor actual vs. estimated costs and work with leadership to adjust standards accordingly.
• Provide consultation, coordination, and assistance to our clients, sales group, and internal personnel.
• Maintain detailed and organized records of bid documents, correspondence, and other project specific information.

• Minimum of 3 years prior experience estimating mid-size and larger glazing projects from architectural drawings and specifications.
• Ability to read, interpret, & understand architectural drawings and specifications and provide detailed take offs and estimates that incorporate different building envelope solutions.
• Experience using computer software estimating programs to prepare estimates of aluminum glazing systems & their applications.
• Strong understanding of metal systems and other infill options as well as their applications.
• Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, phones, prioritize workload and work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to communicate effectively & maintain professional conduct; excellent written & verbal communication skills.
