As a
Quality Associate
, you will play a critical role in ensuring incoming materials, including mechanical and electrical components, chemical and biological raw materials, and other supplies, meet established company specifications and quality standards. Through visual, mechanical, and functional inspections, testing, and analysis, you will help ensure that only compliant materials move forward in our processes. You will maintain accurate documentation, complete data entry, and support quality systems that ensure regulatory and operational excellence across IDEXX.
This position requires travel between our Portland, Westbrook, and Scarborough facilities to support inspection activities and maintain consistent quality standards across locations. You'll play an important role in protecting product quality and supporting the delivery of innovative solutions that improve the health and well-being of animals and people worldwide.

In this role:Perform inspections, analysis and/or testing to specifications, requirements, and industry standards, using specialized instruments as needed.
Complete related documentation, paperwork and data entry.
Collect and provide reports and data to management; and assist with completing surveys, audits and certification.
Maintain current procedures and SOPs; identify and recommend process improvements and new procedures; and assist in implementing changes.
Manage special handling requirements for hazardous material as needed.
You will travel between Portland, Westbrook, and Scarborough facilities to perform incoming inspection activities as needed
High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required;
Associate degree or equivalent preferredAbility to read, interpret and carry out detailed instructions in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to operate complex measurement instruments and determine proper measurement methods when developing/performing inspections to specifications.
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and specifications on a wide variety of materials and parts.
Ability to read and comprehend correspondence, memos and SOPs.
Ability to write correspondence and complete inspection documentation and filing.
Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations.
Basic math skills and ability to work with units of measure, whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Ability to interpret and use industry standard sampling plans.
Problem solving skills; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Good PC skills, preferably MS Office.
For Lab Positions: SPC/SQC knowledge; ability to interpret and use industry standard sampling plans such as ANSI/ASQ Z1.4 preferred
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to stand and sit for extended periods; extend and reach with hands and arms; and use hands and fingers to handle, squeeze, twist and manipulate objects, controls and tools.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Regularly perform repetitive bench work.
Personal protective equipment and/or clothing required.
May work in a high traffic warehouse environment or Laboratory environment with exposure to biohazard material.
Travel required between Portland, Westbrook, and Scarborough facilities
- An hourly rate of $20-$22/hour based on experience
