Job Description

The Landscape Construction Foreman is responsible for installation and management of landscape and hardscape projects during the growing seasons and snow and ice management during the winter months. The foreman is responsible for completing landscape and hardscape installations with great precision, craftsmanship and efficiency.

Essential Functions
  • Direct job site activities
  • Operate dump trucks, skid steers, loaders and excavators safely and effectively for both efficient job production to include loading/unloading of job materials
  • Manage personnel/crew members effectively and efficiently
Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage landscape crew
  • Responsible for snow and ice removal/site management during winter months along with various yard work in between snow/ice events
  • On call during winter months for snow removal and pre and post salt applications
  • Ensure each crew member is trained appropriately for each designated job assignment
  • Participate in and conduct all job site safety briefings with crew members
  • Ensure that all crew members utilize all required personal protective equipment
  • Understand and instruct crew members on proper job site security procedures
  • Ensure that all installation work is performed in accordance with industry and company standards
  • Ensure that all equipment safety and maintenance procedures are followed
  • Perform administrative functions pertaining to crew management
  • Interact with clientele in order to help ensure job satisfaction
  • Understand financial aspects of each job assignment
  • Supervise all crew members during the performance of all assigned work
  • Lead by example
  • Report for duty at the designated location on time each day.
  • Follow directions from supervisor, project manager and or designer
  • Ensure that all safety rules and company safety policies are adhered to
  • Participate in all safety training sessions offered, ask questions, and improve job safety skills
  • Communicate well with all crew members, supervisor and clients
  • Strive to improve job skills and develop the potential for upward mobility
  • Monitor all tools equipment and machinery for needed maintenance
  • Track and record all job hours worked accurately
  • Maintain clean and safe job site
  • Train crew members in the development of the best practices of installation in company standards
Requirements
  • Valid and clean driver's license required
  • 3+ years experience
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Proficient heavy equipment operating skills to include front end loaders, mini-excavators, skid steer, plow/salter trucks, machinery with various attachments and other construction equipment as needed
  • Snow and ice experience including plowing, loader/skid steer operation, shoveling and salting
  • Extensive knowledge and experience installing all types of plant material
  • Extensive knowledge and experience installing a variety of hardscape applications
  • Strong knowledge of perennials, shrubs, evergreens and trees to include identification and cultural requirements
  • Highly motivated, self-driven and detail orientated
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Good time management skills; be available for long hours year round
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Able to work effectively with individuals of differing knowledge and background (i.e. clients, contractors, vendors, other designers)
  • Clean and professional appearance
  • Punctual and dependable
