Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician

Sysco is seeking a Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician III to keep our distribution fleet operating safely and reliably. In this senior role, you'll perform complex diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on diesel tractors, trailers, and refrigerated units supporting Sysco's wholesale food operations. You'll troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and brake systems, respond to road calls, and ensure DOT and safety compliance. Working in a team-focused shop culture, you'll mentor junior techs, use fleet maintenance software, and help minimize downtime across a high-volume delivery network.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex diagnostics and repairs on diesel tractors, trailers, and refrigerated (reefer) units
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize breakdowns and ensure fleet reliability
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, braking, and suspension systems
• Respond to road calls and emergency repairs to safely return vehicles to service
• Inspect equipment for DOT and safety compliance, documenting all findings and repairs
• Use fleet maintenance software to track work orders, parts usage, and service history
• Collaborate with operations and dispatch to prioritize repairs and reduce downtime
• Mentor and support junior technicians, sharing best practices and safety standards
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment following Sysco safety protocols
• Communicate repair status and recommendations clearly to supervisors and fleet managers
