Job Description & How to Apply Below

LUCA is seeking multiple experienced SAT Instructors to prepare our high school scholars for success on the SAT. Instructors deliver engaging, high-quality test-preparation sessions—both virtually and in person—that build content mastery, test-taking strategy, and the confidence our scholars need to reach their college goals. This is an ideal opportunity for skilled educators who are passionate about expanding access to higher education for first‑generation and under‑represented students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver structured SAT preparation sessions (individual, small group, and/or class‑sized group) in both virtual and in‑person formats.
  • Teach core SAT content areas, including Reading, Writing and Language, and Math, along with proven test‑taking strategies and time‑management skills.
  • Assess scholars’ strengths and areas for growth using diagnostic and practice tests, and tailor instruction to individual needs.
  • Track scholar progress and communicate updates to the LUCA program team as needed.
  • Foster a supportive, encouraging, and culturally responsive learning environment.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality for scheduled sessions.
  • Collaborate with LUCA staff to align instruction with program goals and scholar milestones.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Education, a related field, or a subject area relevant to SAT content.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SAT preparation, with a strong command of the current SAT format and content.
  • Prior experience teaching or tutoring high school students, ideally in test preparation.
  • Comfort and proficiency delivering instruction over virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom) as well as in person.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom‑management skills.
  • Reliable internet connection and a suitable environment for virtual sessions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with first‑generation, immigrant‑origin, or underrepresented students.
  • Familiarity with the college admissions process and the role of standardized testing within it.
  • A track record of strong, measurable score improvements among students.
Schedule & Compensation
  • Approximately 5 hours per week, with scheduling flexibility based on scholar and program needs.
  • Sessions delivered virtually and/or in person at LUCA partner sites in Westchester County.
  • Hourly rate of $50 – $75, based on virtual/in‑person setting, experience, and qualifications.
How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit a resume and a brief statement of interest to pjimenez
. Please indicate your availability and whether you are able to provide virtual sessions, in‑person sessions, or both.
