Senior QA Automation Engineer with Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers (America) Inc. located in Westchester, IL.
Responsible for defining and executing the team’s test and Quality Assurance (QA) strategy and all QA practices for the web and services platform within the assigned domain. Utilizes enterprise web development and full technology stack, including web apps automation using Playwright, K6 scripts for load and performance tests, Dev Ops development with Circle
CI and Git Hub, monitoring tools such as Honeycomb and/or Datadog, and Kubernetes and container deployment patterns. Collaborates with staff QA engineers, tech leads, designers, product managers, and developers to deliver efficient tools/products; identifies and resolves performance and scalability issues; develops scalable performant solutions; sets engineering and architectural direction across domains; develops testing strategies and test cases; uses CI/CD to drive automated pipeline solutions;
and coaches and trains a team of junior QA engineers while remaining hands‑on. Participates in implementation of the full‑stack web experience.
- Define and execute QA strategy and practices for web and services in the assigned domain.
- Use Playwright, K6, Circle
CI, Git Hub, Honeycomb or Datadog, and Kubernetes to automate testing and monitoring. - Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality tools and products.
- Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues and develop scalable solutions.
- Coach and mentor junior QA engineers while actively participating in QA activities.
- Drive CI/CD pipelines and automated pipeline solutions for efficient delivery.
- Participate in full‑stack web experience implementation, ensuring best development practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer technology, information systems, software engineering, or related field and at least 6 years of experience as a software engineer or related occupation.
- Or Master’s degree in a related field and at least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Minimum of 5 years of enterprise automation test development experience with either a Bachelor’s or 3 years with a Master’s, covering:
- Web app automation using Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress;
- K6 scripts for load and performance tests;
- Dev Ops practices with Circle
CI and Git Hub; - Monitoring tools such as Honeycomb or Datadog;
- Scalable performant solution design;
- Engineering and architectural leadership in QA for a specific domain;
- Development of testing strategies, test cases, and CI/CD pipeline solutions;
- Kubernetes and container deployment patterns.
- Ability to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S.; travel 10 – 15 % to the RB Global Chicago office (minimum quarterly, sometimes monthly).
