Salary: $21.62 per hour
Hours: Per Diem
Per Diem: Up to 777 hours annually, at discretion of CTE Director and Instructor(s)
Reports to: CTE Director
Responsibilities- Assist classroom teachers with tasks supporting the Construction Program.
- Provide instruction to students working individually or in small groups in the classroom and on job sites.
- Monitor student activities such as test-taking, skills testing, study sessions, and field trips.
- Distribute materials, tools and supplies to students.
- Inventory supplies and assist with ordering new or replacement materials.
- Assist students with special needs.
- Perform related duties as required.
- Maintain academic confidentiality.
A candidate must have background knowledge and experience in residential construction and applicable OSHA certifications. The following skills and competencies are required.
- Problem Solving: Identifies and solves problems, gathers and analyzes information, develops alternative solutions, and works well in group settings.
- Customer Service: Communicates with customers and assists with job prospects; manages difficult or emotional situations with faculty and students; promptly responds to student needs; uses computers to navigate curriculum and monitor student progress.
- Teamwork: Balances team and individual responsibilities; builds positive team environment; supports program success and student achievement; job site experience required.
- Quality: Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; seeks ways to improve instruction; monitors own work to ensure quality and is proactive.
- Quantity: Meets industry standards in residential construction and uses hand and power tools to complete tasks competently and timely; willing to assist with all program aspects.
- Safety and Security: Observes all safety and security procedures; adheres to OSHA guidelines and WPS policy; reports unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly; monitors and assists students on site.
- Attendance: Consistently maintains a per diem schedule, arrives on time and ready to work.
- Dependability: Follows instructions, responds to management direction, takes responsibility for actions, keeps commitments, notifies CTE Director if unable to meet commitments.
- Walk, climb stairs, bend and lift up to 45 lbs.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must provide a current national background check without disqualifying results at time of hire.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
