Ocean House Management

Licensed Nail Technician

Scope of Position

A nail technician is responsible for guiding clients through service offerings while helping them choose the types of nail services that would benefit them the most. They perform duties to prevent injuries to both themselves and guests, and they obtain detailed client histories, including medical conditions such as diabetes. A current and valid state manicurist license, specifically for the therapy module, as well as four years of experience as a nail technician are required.

Staff Schedule Requirements

All employees are kindly asked to understand that the property operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Hourly paid team members may be asked to work extended shifts and additional days based on business demands. The busiest days are during the peak season, with weekends and holiday weekends requiring flexibility. At least two days a week, one of which must be a Saturday or Sunday shift, are required.

Holidays, weekends, and evenings are also expected.

Reporting Relationship

Internal:
The licensed nail technician reports directly to the Spa Supervisor and Spa Director.
External:
Has regular contact with guests, members, and directors of the Ocean House.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consistently exhibit Ocean House core values and standards, including Forbes 5‑Star standards.
  • Effectively communicate with guests to confirm services and customize treatments as needed.
  • Explain treatment differences and guide guests through the spa journey from start to finish.
  • Perform treatments following spa and professional protocols, including products and timing.
  • Maintain a clean work area, sanitize instruments, treatment areas, and follow hotel or local policies.
  • Restock and replace linens, supplies, and other items between treatments and at end of day.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Complete required reports and paperwork as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintain confidentiality with all guest information.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions.
  • Achieve targeted retail, service, or enhancement sales goals.
  • Practice, manage, and promote OHM’s Mission and Values as part of daily operations.
  • Represent the company with a positive attitude and professional attire.
  • Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to Ocean House Collection’s sustainability programs.
  • Carry out any other duties within the broad scope and purpose of this job description.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Education
  • Prior spa experience required; 3‑5 years preferred.
  • Prior hotel or equivalent guest service experience preferred.
  • Exceptional ability to engage in friendly, clear communication with guests and colleagues.
  • Fluency in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy under pressure.
  • Uphold company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Prioritize and organize tasks and work area.
  • Remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment as interpreted by management.
  • Follow directions promptly.
  • Work cohesively with co‑workers as part of a team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest/employee information and company data.
Qualifications
  • National and state license for specific therapy module in current standing, or state reciprocity.
