The Counselor is a full-time, on-site role based in Westerly, RI. This role provides individual and group counseling to patients with opioid use disorder, using evidence-based approaches to support recovery and long-term wellness. The Counselor conducts intake assessments, develops and updates individualized treatment plans, and maintains accurate, timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. Daily responsibilities include coordinating care with medical staff and other treatment team members, monitoring patient progress, and supporting crisis intervention and relapse prevention when needed.

The Counselor also participates in team meetings, contributes to quality improvement initiatives, and helps create a safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive environment for all patients.

• Demonstrated skills in individual and group counseling, treatment planning, and patient assessment for substance use and behavioral health conditions.
• Ability to maintain thorough clinical documentation, adhere to confidentiality requirements, and follow regulatory and organizational standards of care.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse patient populations and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
• Capacity to manage crisis situations, support de-escalation, and apply evidence-based practices in opioid use disorder treatment.
• Relevant licensure or certification as required by state regulations for counseling or social work (e.g., LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, LPC, or equivalent), or eligibility to obtain such credentials.
• Preferred education:
  
  Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
• Experience in addiction treatment, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), or community mental health settings is highly beneficial.
• Commitment to trauma-informed, patient-centered, and nonjudgmental care, with the ability to support individuals at various stages of recovery.
