Overview

RN - Nursing at Yale New Haven Health summary:
This role involves providing individualized, patient-centered nursing care under the supervision of a nurse manager, adhering to hospital policies and procedures. Responsibilities include ongoing physical and psychological patient assessment, documentation, acting as a clinical resource, and participating in staff education. The nurse must demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and respect while ensuring timely and effective patient care.

Under the direction of the nurse manager, manages individualized, goal-directed nursing care through the use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing, in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses the patient s physical and psychological condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. Documents appropriately the information obtained from the ongoing assessment. Shares significant assessment data with the appropriate discipline.
  • Adheres to The Westerly Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Acts as a clinical resource and role model.
  • Actively participates in train and educational activities for other staff members.
  • Demonstrates a high level of respect, dignity, compassion and professionalism for all customers by utilizing the four tenets of Patient Family and Centered Partnership.
  • Recognizes and values the contributions of fellow employees and displays cooperation and teamwork.
  • Reports to work on time, prepared to work and follows hospital policies for notice of lateness/absenteeism and time off requests.
Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Experience
    :
    Medical-surgical nursing, pediatrics, telemetry experience preferred.
  • Licensure
    :
    Current state registration. BLS required. ACLS (Optional). PALS within one year of hire.
