The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides safe, patient-centered anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures, collaborating with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and related medical staff. The CRNA ensures the highest standards of documentation, privacy, and ethical practice while maintaining continuous professional development.
Responsibilities- Administer and monitor anesthesia for surgical and medical procedures, adhering to ASA guidelines.
- Continuously evaluate patient status by monitoring vital signs, capnography, and pulse oximetry.
- Maintain accurate documentation compliant with hospital and regulatory requirements.
- Protect patient information and ensure confidentiality across all media.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care.
- Engage in projects that advance professional competency and quality management.
- Participate in the in‑house call rotation, providing anesthesia services during off‑shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Education
:
Completion of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program; current Connecticut nursing license (RN/APRN); AANA certification. - Experience
:
Prefer clinical experience as a CRNA; none required. APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, CNMs must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff and credentialed through the Medical Staff process. - Licensure
: AANA certification;
Connecticut RN and APRN licenses; ACLS; DEA registration; CT Controlled Substance registration. - Special Skills
:
Sharp concentration, calm under stress, clear communication with surgical teams and patients, flexibility, and adaptability. - Physical Demands
:
Ability to monitor equipment, stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, move patients, navigate anesthesia locations, and maintain adequate vision, hearing, and other senses. Must tolerate physically taxing workloads and adapt to changing environments.
- Competitive base salary matched with a sign‑on bonus of up to $60,000.
