Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the property is maintained in top condition, meeting Forbes Five-Star standards. This role involves performing preventative maintenance, addressing guest and operational requests, and ensuring all systems function efficiently to provide an exceptional guest experience.

All employees are kindly asked to understand that the property operation is 24 hours a day 7 days a week, inclusive of all holidays. While the company will make every attempt to create a work and life balance, all hourly paid team members may be asked to work extended shifts and additional days based on business demands. The busiest of days during the season (Memorial Day through Columbus Day) are the weekend days from Friday thru Sunday and on holiday weekends that are celebrated on Mondays, this can include Mondays.

All seasonal staff must be aware and able to work all weekends; requesting time off for a holiday weekend may not and will likely not be granted. The more flexible you are the more you can learn, grow, earn.

Internal:
Reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and works closely with the Front Desk, Housekeeping, and other operational teams.

External:
Interacts with vendors and contractors as necessary for repairs and maintenance.

  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other mechanical systems.
  • Address and resolve guest room maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct regular checks on the property's infrastructure, including lighting, fire safety systems, and elevators.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Work closely with Housekeeping and Front Desk teams to address maintenance-related guest concerns.
  • Assist in maintaining the pool, spa, and other recreational facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair minor carpentry, painting, and drywall issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report any major concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Operate maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Participate in emergency response situations, such as power outages, leaks, or system failures.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
  • Responsible for practicing, managing, and promoting the Company's Statement of Purpose, Service Excellence Pillars, and Declarations so that it becomes an intricate part of the everyday operation.
  • Represent the Company with a positive attitude and professional presentation.
  • Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to the Company's sustainability programs.
  • Carry out any other duties that fall within the broad spirit, scope, and purpose of this job description and that are commensurate with the role.

Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance practices.

Ability to troubleshoot and repair various systems efficiently.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in varying conditions, including indoor/outdoor environments.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Fluency in English both verbally and in writing.

Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy under pressure.

Uphold the Company standards, policies, and procedures.

Prioritize and organize tasks and work area.

Ability to remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment as interpreted by the management.

Follow directions and work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

Maintain confidentiality of guest/employee information and pertinent company data.

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certification in a related field preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in maintenance, preferably in a luxury hotel or hospitality environment.

Climbing ladders and stairs.

Balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.

Reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and lifting.

Fingering, grasping, and feeling objects.

Talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as operating tools, machinery, and maintenance equipment.

Subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.

May be exposed to extreme cold, heat, noise, vibration, hazards, and atmospheric conditions such as dust and fumes.

May be required to work in confined spaces or at heights.
