The Village of Western Springs is accepting applications to fill a part‑time Early Childhood Assistant position in the Recreation Department.
Early Childhood Assistant – Recreation DepartmentKey Responsibilities
The Early Childhood Assistant supports the daily operations of the classroom by ensuring the safety, well‑being, and active supervision of children ages 3-6 years old. This role involves assisting in the planning and implementation of engaging educational activities, preparing materials for daily lessons, and maintaining a positive, nurturing environment. The Early Childhood Assistant also helps enforce classroom rules and program policies to promote a safe and supportive learning experience for all children.
Qualifications- Supports the planning and execution of classroom activities
- Ensure the classroom remains clean, organized, and safe
- Maintain positive and professional communication with children, families, and staff
- Report unsafe conditions, behavioral concerns, or accidents promptly
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings
- Perform additional duties as assigned
While performing this role, the employee will frequently walk, stand, sit, drive, type, and use a computer. Typical hazards are minimal, but caution should be exercised. This position may involve exposure to mild to loud noise. The employee must occasionally lift or carry up to 25 pounds. Tasks may also include occasional overhead work bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, climbing, and squatting.
WorkSchedule
This position works 2 to 6 hours per week between the hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday-Friday.
Compensation and BenefitsHourly salary range: $16.00 - $20.00.
