Position Summary

The Estimating Manager is responsible for leading the estimating department and overseeing all cost estimation activities for construction projects. This role ensures that project bids are accurate, competitive, and aligned with strategic goals. The Estimating Manager collaborates with cross‑functional teams, manages estimators, and contributes to business planning through financial forecasting and risk analysis.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and manage the estimating team, ensuring high‑quality output and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and proposals to prepare detailed cost estimates.
  • Break down project components to assess labor, materials, equipment, and time requirements.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids for compliance and budget alignment.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Present and justify estimates to senior management, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain records of estimated vs. actual costs for future reference and benchmarking.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and regulations affecting project costs.
  • Develop and maintain estimating tools, templates, and standardized metrics.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure accurate and timely estimates.
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years in construction and cost estimation or related roles.
  • Experience in heavy civil and industrial projects preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and complex projects.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and financial forecasting skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with building codes, GMP processes including Guaranteed Savings Contracts (GSC) and Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT), and federal regulations.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Position is primarily based in a professional office environment with standard office conditions.
  • Regular use of a computer, telephone, and other standard office equipment is required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the workday, including prolonged periods of sitting while working at a computer.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, or handling of materials up to approximately 15 pounds may be required.
  • Position requires occasional travel to project sites and client locations, which may involve walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through electronic means.
  • Work may require occasional extended hours or schedule flexibility to accommodate meetings, site visits, or project deadlines.
