The Late Stage Collections Specialist is crucial in assisting borrowers to bring their loans current or explore alternative solutions. In this position, you will engage with borrowers, offering guidance and support while ensuring compliance with company policies and all applicable laws. You will also identify when to escape cases for advanced assistance.

This entry-level role within the Loan Counselor family entails handling collections tasks of varying complexity. As you grow within the position, you'll gain experience in loan workout functions while ensuring exceptional service.

The starting pay for this role is $23.50/hour, with additional monthly incentives. Spanish bilingual skills can add an extra $1.50/hour to your compensation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide detailed explanations of mortgage loan options, including foreclosure alternatives and loan workout possibilities.
  • Assess borrowers' financial situations courteously and professionally, aiming for first-call resolutions while adhering to regulations.
  • Educate borrowers on various options available based on their financial circumstances.
  • Utilize an automated dialing system for both inbound and outbound calls, as well as manual calling when necessary.
  • Offer solutions such as loan modifications, short sales, and refinancing based on the borrower's ability to pay.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements and gather necessary documentation for assistance requests per policy.
  • Act as a single point of contact for borrowers when needed.
  • Escalate complex cases to licensed Loss Mitigation associates if required.
  • Provide updates on payment statuses, short sale requests, and other loan servicing functions.
  • Assist with loan servicing issues such as payments and access to the loan servicing website.
  • Respond to inquiries related to escrow, loss drafts, and closing documents.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
  • Be familiar with industry-specific computer software tools.
  • Exhibit strong verbal communication skills to convey information accurately and effectively.
  • Possess basic math skills for accurate financial assessments.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify collection issues and collaborate on alternative solutions.
  • Apply relevant regulations and company policies appropriately.
  • Organize thoughts to communicate clearly with borrowers.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience required.
  • Less than one year of collections experience in a customer service or call center environment, with loan servicing experience being a plus.
  • Prior experience in Banking or Mortgage/Loan Servicing is preferred.
