AboutThe Role
As an Occupational Therapist (OT) at Life Span Therapy, you will play a critical role in helping residents regain independence and improve their quality of life through personalized therapeutic interventions. You will assess residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive abilities to develop tailored treatment plans that address their unique needs and goals. Your work will involve collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and caregivers, to ensure comprehensive care and optimal resident outcomes.
You will also educate residents and their families on adaptive techniques and assistive devices to support daily living activities. Ultimately, your efforts will empower individuals to overcome challenges and achieve greater autonomy in their personal and professional lives.
- Conduct thorough resident evaluations to determine functional abilities and limitations.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on resident assessments and goals.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to improve residents' motor skills, cognitive functions, and daily living activities.
- Performs therapy or assigns resident to a Certified OT Assistant (COTA), and communicates sufficient information about the treatment plan to nursing and other personnel to assure a team approach.
- Monitor resident progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes.
- Educate residents, families, and caregivers on techniques and strategies to support rehabilitation and independence.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of resident care, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate care and optimize resident recovery.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure a safe therapeutic environment.
- Must be a licensed Therapist who is a graduate of an ACOTE accredited school.
- Must have a valid Indiana Operator's license and be able to travel occasionally to other locations if needed to provide therapy coverage.
- Proven experience in resident care, including assessment and treatment planning.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation and communication purposes.
- Experience working in outpatient or rehabilitation therapy settings.
- Certification in specialized therapeutic techniques or modalities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for resident and team interactions.
- Continuing education or training in infection control best practices.
