Event Manager / Planner, General Management
Under the direction of the Center Program Executive, and under the guidance of the Center Program Committee, the Aquatics Director will be responsible for all facets of the indoor and outdoor aquatic departments. The position will include the development and administration of the department; program development and promotion, implementation and evaluation, staff scheduling and supervision, and financial operation in accordance with Center and Association goals, objectives and policies.
- Develops, administers and controls the designated budgets, including meeting income targets and expense control, in consultation with Center Program Executive.
- Selects, trains and supervise paid and volunteer department staff.
- Interprets Association goals, objectives and policies to the community and constituency.
- Evaluate programs and recommend changes based on compatibility with the Center and Association goals.
- Guides assigned Center committees in formulating policies and programs consistent with Center and Association goals.
- Prepare reports as required.
- Shares responsibilities for Center supervision, public relations, planning and promotions as agreed.
- Assists the international aspect of the Association including World Service education and fund raising.
- Evaluates performance, at least on an annual basis, of department personnel.
- Supervises and is accountable for care and up keep of department equipment and facilities.
- Shares responsibility for providing income through membership fees and special subsidies.
- Assists in the annual Sustaining Membership enrollment campaign.
- Schedules department facilities to assure equitable usage of facilities.
- Provides direct leadership to specific programs as agreed upon with the Center Executive.
- Assists with any other projects or activities as may be assigned.
- Perform other duties/assignments as needed at the YMCA.

- Financial accountability as it relates to the achievement of budgeted program target levels.
- Evidence of growth and development in the number of aquatic programs, activities and program participants.
- Aquatic facilities and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe, and appropriate manner.
- Creative planning and programming by meeting deadlines, sufficient promotion and of the attainment of agreed upon goals.
- Successful staff supervision, training and teamwork as it relates to Center and Association goals and objectives.
- Evidence of professional growth and expanded opportunities, duties and responsibilities within the position.

- This position requires a degree in physical education or a related field or its equivalent in experience
- Current certifications in aquatics (must be able to swim, pass CPR certification and lifeguarding exams).
- A high degree of organizational and supervisory skills is required.
- Knowledge of pool operations (water quality, cleanliness, protocols).
- Additional skills in program development and implementation, fiscal control and written communications are necessary.
- Must be a team player with strong human relations skills able to interpret program objectives to members and participants.
- Able to communicate within and between communities and organizations.
