Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to help lead our nationally recognized team in Indianapolis. This position will primarily support the Level III NICU at Community Health Network Westfield
.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage care plans for critically ill newborns
• Perform procedures including intubations, PICC, UAL/UVL, chest tube placement, lumbar punctures, and thoracentesis
• Deliver patient- and family- centered care
• Participation in quality,safety and educational initiatives
• 24-hr shifts with in-house Neo coverage

Protected Time

• 20% protected administrative time (8 hrs/week) for team leadership, operational coordination, and program development activities

Human Resources & Staffing

• Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and integration of new APPs
• Assist with APP scheduling and staffing to ensure consistent patient care coverage
• Support workforce planning, schedule optimization, and coverage contingency planning
• Serve as a resource and mentor for APP team members, promoting professional growth and engagement

Program Operations & Support

• Collaborate with the Medical Director, neonatologists, and interdisciplinary teams to facilitate high-quality patient care
• Partner with leadership to support initiatives, program development, and implementation of process improvement projects
• Serve as the primary communication liaison between other Community NICUs
• Act as the communication liaison for APP clinical workflows, practice concerns, and operational updates
• Collaborate with other educational leaders to identify and coordinate nursing and APP educational opportunities

Quality, Safety & Performance Improvement

• Actively participate in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives
• Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality metrics and patient outcomes
• Promote adherence to evidence-based practice, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies

Education & Professional Development

• Actively participate in Department of Neonatology and Advanced Practice Provider service line educational initiatives
• Support APP orientation, competency development, continuing education, and professional advancement
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and encourage participation in departmental and organizational improvement efforts

Leadership & Communication

• Represent the APP team in departmental meetings, committees, and multidisciplinary work groups as appropriate
• Foster effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork across disciplines
• Provide feedback to leadership regarding operational challenges, opportunities, and APP team needs

Qualifications:

• NNP or PA-Neonatal certification
