Long Term Substitute: Special Education Teacher

Position: LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER
Westfield Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for one (1) LONG TERM SUB opening for a Special Education Teacher at Westfield Intermediate School.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of authorized administrators shall:

* Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.

* Prepare individualized education plans.

* Collaborate with school based related service providers.

* Collaborate with team on curriculum and student needs.

* Assess educational needs of students by use of standardized tools, running records and other informal assessments.

* Maintain complete records of re-evaluation periods, required student documentation and parent communication.

* Integrate technology into instruction.

* Provide differentiated instruction to students as needed.

* Implement school, district and department policies.

* Create and manage effective communication with parents of special education students.

* Create and follow goals and objectives for IEP's, write quarterly progress reports and follow behavior plans with integrity.

* Follow the Westfield Public Schools code of conduct for the classroom which is consistent with established administrative policies and develops rules of classroom behavior which are enforced in a fair and just manner.

* Plans and supervises assignments for classroom paraprofessionals.

* Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the building principal or the Superintendent of schools and/or their designee.

REPORTS TO:

Building Principal and Special Education Program Supervisor

The salary and terms of employment will be commensurate with the Westfield Public Schools Non-Contract Chart. Performance on this position will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation.
