Position Overview
Director of Clinical Education & Tenure Track Faculty – PA Program
Westfield State University, Westfield, MA
Full‑time, academic year plus additional summer weeks in the Director role.
- Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with local health providers and the community to expand clinical affiliates, support enrollment, and enhance learning objectives.
- Oversee development and execution of agreements and contracts with clinical affiliates, instructors, and preceptors for PA student training.
- Participate in curriculum design and program development, including program manuals, instructional materials, and learning objectives.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with accreditation reports, site visits, and ongoing program evaluation.
- Develop and review program missions and instructional experiences to remain in compliance with ARC‑PA standards.
- Assign students to clerkship sites, create orientation sessions for incoming clerkship students, and coordinate end‑of‑clerkship workshops.
- Evaluate the clinical curriculum through student, preceptor, and site evaluations, and collaborate with faculty to assess clinical sites.
- Chair the Clinical Curriculum Committee and coordinate site visits, database analyses, and improvement initiatives.
- Provide supervision, evaluation, instruction, remediation, and counsel to students in clinical clerkships.
- Engage in preceptor development, AAPA CME coordination, and participation in ARC‑PA accreditation meetings.
- Teach, conduct scholarship, and perform service activities, serving as an ambassador for the PA Program.
- Identify funding sources and prepare grants and contracts to support university and program activities.
- Serve on university and PA program faculty committees, participate in search processes, and maintain membership in local, state, and national professional organizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
- Master’s degree in a related field (Doctorate preferred).
- Current NCCPA certification.
- Eligibility for licensure as a Physician Assistant in Massachusetts; current active state licensure.
- Minimum of three years of clinical experience.
- Current driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to handle confidential information sensitively.
Base salary for assistant, associate, or professor rank: up to $120,000 annually.
Summer stipend for Director responsibilities: $20,000 – $24,000.
Total compensation is expected to range from $110,000 to $144,000.
