Pay Rate: $230.00 per day

JOB SUMMARY: To fulfill the role of School Nurse during his/her absence and may include, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

• Perform treatments and administer daily and PRN medications per medical orders.
• Maintain up-to-date health records.
• Assume responsibility for informing faculty and staff of those students with special health problems, as needed.
• Interpret the health status of a pupil to him/her, the parents, and school personnel without breaching confidentiality.
• Observe students on a regular basis to determine health needs.
• Authorize the exclusion and/or re-admission of a student with an infectious disease.
• Administer first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures.
• Serve as a health consultant and resource person for the classroom teacher conducting health-related classes when requested as well as teacher health classes.
• Advise on modification of the education program to meet health needs of the individual student through the Chapter 766 process.
• Assume authority, in the absence of a physician, for the care of a student or staff member who has suffered injury or emergency illness.

Reports to: Building Principal and Administrator of Special Education and Student Support Services

This is a temporary position with limited benefits.

• QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Licensed Registered Nurse
  • CPR certified
  • Certified as School Nurse in Massachusetts preferred, but not required.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
