Job DescriptionThe Westfield Public School District is seeking a strategic and innovative Assistant Curriculum Director committed to iterative growth and instructional excellence to join our educational leadership team. Collaborating directly with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, this leader orchestrates district-wide instructional programming. The Assistant Curriculum Director serves as a catalyst for teacher growth, providing the coaching and curriculum expertise required to elevate student achievement and classroom engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Remains current with latest research regarding neuroscience and brain development, learning acquisition and instructional strategies, educational technology and Artificial Intelligence; translates findings into actionable district-wide practices.
- Monitors developments within state and national content frameworks to ensure curriculum remains rigorous, compliant, and forward-thinking.
- Facilitates curriculum committees that design, review, and update curriculum maps aligned with current frameworks.
- Assists in the research, selection, and equitable distribution of instructional materials, textbooks, and digital software platforms.
- Provides supervision, mentorship, and evaluation for Lead Teachers; ensures their work aligns with district goals and provides a bridge between administration and educators.
- Plans, coordinates, and facilitates district-wide professional learning, workshops, and modules focused on pedagogical best practices and new curriculum rollouts.
- Ensures smooth transitions and alignment of curriculum expectations from early childhood programs through high school graduation.
Position Type: Full-time
Salary: $109,000 to $114,000 Per Year

Curriculum
- Education:
Master’s Degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field. - Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience, plus at least 2 years in an instructional leadership, coaching, or curriculum development role. - Certification:
Must hold or be eligible for a valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) administrative license as a Supervisor/Director or Principal/Assistant Principal. - Master degree preferred.
