Supervision Received: Receives direct supervision from the Provost, with some direction provided by the Associate Provost.
Supervision Exercised: The Executive Director supervises all subordinate positions with the Center for Instructional Technology (CIT). Additionally, they may supervise student workers and graduate assistants.
Salary: $110,000 to $115,000 annually (salary commensurate with education and experience)

General Statement of DutiesUnder the direction of the Provost, while also receiving supplemental direction from the Associate Provost, the Executive Director oversees the Center for Instructional Technology (CIT) and the Faculty Center, providing leadership around instructional technology, online instruction, and faculty professional development in support of the institution's academic mission.
Through their leadership and management of the CIT, the Executive Director will fully support the University's online courses and programs, lead the effective integration of instructional technologies in the virtual learning environment, and manage the University's official learning management system(s).
While working collaboratively across divisions and departments, and in consultation with affiliated faculty, the Executive Director will lead the Faculty Center. In this capacity the Executive Director develops, coordinates, and delivers professional development opportunities for faculty, librarians, and academic staff. These initiatives support excellence in teaching and learning, scholarship and research, advising effectiveness, digital literacy, culturally responsive teaching, and learning outcomes assessment, all of which are grounded in best practices and adult learning theory.
DutiesRelated to the Center for Instructional Technology (CIT)
- Consults with faculty, department chairs, and administration on online education issues, recommends long term online teaching plans and policies.
- Consults with department chairs, faculty, and administration in developing and recommending improvements to the online course and program offerings of the University.
- Develops and delivers instructional technology training to faculty and staff.
- Provides one-on-one consultation, small and large group instruction to the campus community.
- Develops and maintains an online resource center for faculty and students on the CIT and Plato websites.
- Chairs the CIT Advisory Committees, serves on the Instructional Technology Strategic Advisory Committee, or any successor campus technology committee.
- Manages the CIT budget.
- Works, in an advisory capacity, with faculty, Department Chairs, and administration to support the assessment of the quality and academic integrity of online courses.
- Represents the University in state and national online technology organizations.
- Coordinates the review and selection of the LMS Platform and the development and implementation of policies and practices for its use and applications in the University's educational programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Provides leadership and vision to offer an effective program of professional development opportunities for faculty, librarians, and academic staff.
- Creates supports and processes for productive pedological experimentation.
- Fosters strong relationships with key institutions, individuals, community colleges, and other external collaborators to enhance the University's impact to the larger community.
