Aviation Summer Program Teacher

Starting Date: Immediately

Position Type: Part-time

Salary: $45 to $45 Per Hour

Job Description

Aviation Powerplant summer school will run from June 23 - July 17, 2025. Other than holidays, class will be conducted Monday thru Friday from 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive FAA approved aviation power plant maintenance training program.
  • Instruct students in a variety of aviation power plant maintenance disciplines in accordance with curriculum directives, including engine breakdown and reassembly, electrical systems, fire detection, and power plant maintenance.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide regular feedback to students and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance in accordance with regulatory guidance.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and program administrators to continuously improve the training program.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in aviation maintenance technology.
Qualifications
  • Thorough understanding of aircraft parts, systems, and mechanics.
  • Current A&P license or 3 years of Aviation experience in servicing, handling, teaching, work with and on aircraft. Must have a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Federal Aviation Administration Orders.
  • Proficient with Federal Aviation Administration Advisory Circulars.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel.
Work Environment

Work is generally conducted at Westfield Technical Academy’s Aviation Department Hangar 2, located at Westfield Barnes Airport and occasionally at the main campus. The position involves working with your hands and the ability to travel from one place to another within the office. It involves medium work with routine lifting up to 30 pounds and occasional lifting up to 100 pounds, with some pulling, pushing, or reaching above as required for aircraft maintenance.

Regular attendance is an essential function of this job. Total work hours will not exceed 196 hours.
