Westfield Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for a Spanish Teacher.

• Teach skills and knowledge in foreign language instruction to secondary pupils utilizing course of study adopted by the Westfield Public Schools and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
• Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials consistent with the philosophy and curriculum of the Westfield Public Schools.
• Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Develop pupil understanding and appreciation of culture of countries where the studies language is spoken.
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
• Evaluate each pupil's progress in aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing the foreign language in relationship to the level being taught.
• Select and requisition books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies; maintains required inventory records.
• Identify pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, school policy and administrative regulations.
• Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned workday.
• Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
• Work cooperatively with all aspects of the school administrative team/faculty and citizens to insure the highest quality of educational programs.
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and in self-selected growth activities, such as foreign language workshops.
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the building principal or the Superintendent of Schools.

Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $50,000 to $98,000 Per Year

Salary and terms of employment will be commensurate with the Westfield Public Schools Unit A contract. Salary placement will be based on information contained in the application as submitted.

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation.

This position subject to funding.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Active and valid MA DESE license in Spanish 5 - 12 required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Work is generally conducted within school building. Ability to travel throughout the school building is necessary. Position involves sitting and the ability to travel from one place to another within the office. Work is moderate in nature with regular lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with some pulling and pushing or reaching above, generally of desk and file drawers.
  
  Frequent use of hands to operate keyboards and telephones and other office equipment.
• Regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
• Bachelor degree preferred.
