Job Description

St. Mary's Parish Elementary School is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Early Childhood Para Professional working with 3 and 4 year old students. The paraprofessional works under the supervision of the teacher and is an integral part of a successful school day and year.

Job Requirements
  • Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher on all facets of the school day.
  • Provide instructional and creative support to students, both individually and in small groups, under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Assist with classroom management and behavior support strategies to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, building rapport and trust to support their social-emotional growth.
  • Assist in monitoring student progress to inform instructional planning and decision-making with the classroom teacher.
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to develop and implement appropriate interventions and strategies to address student needs.
  • Provide support during transitions and other non-instructional times to ensure student safety and well-being.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to supporting students.
  • Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, early childhood education, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with children, particularly in educational or youth development settings.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of all students.
  • At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
