Job DescriptionThe Multilingual Family Outreach and Engagement Liaison will provide families of English Learners with support to enhance student engagement in school, increase language proficiency, and achieve academic success. The role includes working with the EL Supervisor to procure resources, communicating with caretakers and school staff about student progress and accommodations, and assisting students in meeting course requirements.
Responsibilities- Connect periodically with caretakers or upon request by school/district staff to determine support needed for families.
- Collaborate with the EL Supervisor to seek available community resources.
- Assist families in creating a stable home environment for students to complete homework and attend school prepared to learn.
- Support families as they acclimate to schooling, especially those with interrupted or no prior schooling.
- Communicate with students, families, and school staff to identify barriers preventing learning.
- Provide enrichment and assistance to students in small groups or one-on-one to meet school expectations.
- Communicate with school staff regarding family and student progress and needs as necessary.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
- Grant-funded:
Rate of $36 per hour for up to 100 hours through August 21, 2026.
- Desire to work with multilingual students and their families to support academic growth and personal well‑being.
- Familiarity with Westfield’s social services and understanding of family dynamics.
- Preferred language proficiency of families; work outside school hours.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Performance evaluated in accordance with Westfield Public School evaluation procedures, observations by WHS Administration, and student/family feedback.
