Staff Engineer 1
As a Staff Engineer 1, you will join our Roadway Design team in our Westfield, MA office, where you'll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Responsibilities,Requirements, and Total Rewards
As a valuable part of our Transportation and Roadway Design, a Staff Engineer 1 will support a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as:
- Assist in the design of roadway infrastructure including alignments, grading, drainage, and traffic control
- Prepare engineering drawings, reports, specifications, and cost estimates
- Support senior engineers in meeting project goals and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal standards
- Assist with drainage modeling, traffic control planning, and design documentation
- Perform site visits to collect field data and support construction activities
- Use CAD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Micro Station) to prepare and revise design plans
- Help review contractor submittals, RFIs, and support construction administration tasks
- Coordinate with internal teams, municipalities, and regulatory agencies during design and permitting
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- Passed your FE Exam and obtained your EIT certification, or planning to within the next 6 months
- Strong interest in roadway and transportation design
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Micro Station
- Basic knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, or state DOT standards
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn, collaborate, and take initiative in a team environment
Preferred Requirements
- Master's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
- Experience or coursework related to corridor modeling in Civil 3D
- Exposure to fieldwork, including inspections or data collection
- Understanding of common project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, etc.)
- Interest in obtaining a PE license and engaging in professional development
