Instructor of Finance - 1 Year Temporary

Westfield State University (WSU) seeks to hire a one-year temporary visiting instructor of Finance. WSU offers a BS in Finance degree through the Department of Accounting and Finance, housed within the College of Professional Studies. Westfield State University has been recognized as a College of Distinction for its Business Programs in 2023‑2024.

The Finance major is showing modest growth over the most recent five‑year period. Graduates have been successful in securing career positions in the finance field. Many WSU students include an internship as one of their major courses and have the opportunity to network with industry professionals through events hosted by our Accounting and Finance Club.

• Teach courses and contribute to strengthen the Finance major
• Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary department
• Perform service to the university and department through activities such as committees, campus activities, and other opportunities
• Advise students for course selection and academic/career goals

• MBA with a concentration in Finance or MSc in Finance or PhD in Finance
• Prior teaching experience at the college level

• A commitment to undergraduate teaching
• Flexibility for future course offerings broadly related to the field
• Willingness to engage with themes of race, class, gender, indigeneity, and historically‑marginalized communities in teaching, service, and/or scholarship

$78,000–$80,000 (salary commensurate with education and experience)

• Health Insurance:
  Westfield State offers a variety of HMO, POS, and PPO‑type health insurance plans for eligible employees. Coverage is effective on the 1st of the month following the date of hire, except for employees hired on the 1st of the month, when coverage is effective immediately.
• Retirement: the MA State Employee Retirement System provides eligible employees with a retirement pension following a 10‑year vesting period. In lieu of the retirement pension, eligible employees may select the Optional Retirement Plan with a maximum 5% employer matching contribution.
