CNC Machinist

Westaff is Hiring for a CNC Machinist in Westfield, MA!

Shift: Monday – Friday, 7am – 3:30pm

Pay Rate: $25-$35 an hour, depending on experience

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up and operate CNC machining centers to manufacture precision metal and non-metal components. Our shop is equipped with three Fadal and two Haas machining centers. This role requires strong blueprint reading skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety.

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, setup requirements, and machining sequences.
• Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials as needed.
• Set and adjust machine controls including speeds, feeds, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut.
• Input, retrieve, edit, and run CNC programs following established procedures.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools to ensure conformance to specifications; make tooling adjustments as required.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and upkeep.
• Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and production staff to resolve machining or assembly issues.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Interpret written, verbal, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions accurately.

• Previous CNC experience.
• Experience with Haas and Fadal Machines a plus.
• Apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to machining tasks.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Frequent reaching with hands and arms to load and unload materials.
• Manual dexterity to operate machine controls, press buttons, adjust dials, and make precision adjustments.
