The Waxer Machine Operator (equivalent to a printing press) efficiently sets‑up and operates waxer equipment in accordance with manufacturing orders (MO), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and the production schedule. Compliance with company operating, safety, and housekeeping procedures, practices and policies is required.
This position reports to the Weekend Shift, which operates Saturday and Sunday from 7am–7pm and one weekday of the employee’s choosing – the day must be the same each week.
How you’ll make an impact in this role- Set up, operate, and adjust printing plates and wax coating equipment to MOs, Standard Operating Conditions (SOCs), and the production schedule.
- Inspect and test product for basis weights, appearance, print quality, color match, and other requirements to ensure products meet customer quality specifications.
- Understand and interpret production requirements written in MOs, SOCs, and written and verbal instructions. Understand safety requirements outlined in monthly safety reviews and JHAs, and bring safety concerns to leadership and designated safety personnel.
- Perform routine calculations for wax and ink requirements required for safe and efficient machine operating procedures. Monitor and maintain ink, wax, and required supplies by conducting routine cycle counts and monitoring inventory levels. Report inventory concerns to leadership.
- Assist maintenance in preventive and routine maintenance operations. Maintain good housekeeping by keeping areas organized and clean, and conducting routine 6S inspections. Ensure work area remains safe to work in and free of debris that can cause slips and falls or other hazards.
- Assist in troubleshooting machines, notifying maintenance and leadership of any machine errors or inefficiencies.
- Additional duties as required by the leadership team.
- High School or trade school graduate or equivalent GED. Basic reading and mathematics skills.
- 2+ years of machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with printing press, embossing, machine wax application, or other equivalent experience is a plus.
- Able to read and understand documents, including manufacturing orders (MOs), job hazard analysis (JHA), and quality alerts.
- Experience in a food‑safe manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Must be comfortable working in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
- Must be able to pull, push, lift, move, and adjust products up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to engage in periods of long standing, walking, and consistent lifting.
- Hearing protection and steel-toe shoes are required.
- Safety, hygiene and cleanliness is strictly enforced.
Compensation Range: $21.00 - $24.00 hourly. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position. ACR reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
