Job Summary
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the direct driver management and supervision of midsize driver count, ensuring safe and timely service movement of freight, load assignment, and providing best‑in‑class customer service. The Transportation Manager ensures compliance with DOT regulations and is accountable for all driver compliance and company regulations while working with internal and external contacts to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight and loads.
The role requires flexibility to work any shift, including day, night, and weekend shifts.
- Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safety staff to minimize turnover and maximize productivity.
- Cover absent or unavailable personnel and lead special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and achieving profitability.
- Manage personnel, including training and orientation of drivers and employees, and provide assistance with internal and third‑party (customer) systems.
- Conduct analysis of fleet operations and profitability, recommend continuous improvements, determine and measure key performance indicators, and produce customer‑specific reporting and financial analysis through face‑to‑face or virtual interactions.
- Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and driver assignments to balance equipment in market.
- Perform administrative duties such as payroll, driver counseling, accident reviews, filing and documentation, pay issue resolution, invoicing, and creating operational or financial reports.
- Manage the yard, inspect equipment, coordinate maintenance, and ensure preventative maintenance services are scheduled and safety‑related mechanical issues resolved.
- Work with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service, routing, mechanical, and accessorial pay issues on the day and, when necessary, on‑call.
- Maintain the company’s safety culture through daily driver safety messages, monthly safety briefings, quarterly training, annual reviews, and enforcement of DOT and company safety policies.
- Assign loads, plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on‑time service, manage exceptions, and adjust driver ETA based on pickup and delivery schedules and environmental factors.
- High School Diploma or GED and 2‑3 years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.
- Availability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and weekends.

- Ability to perform in a stressful and high‑pressure environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field and 1‑2 years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience.
Expected starting pay range: $63,000.00 – $78,800.00 per year.
