About the RoleAs a Surgical Veterinary Technician
, you will work closely with our surgical team from patient admission through recovery and discharge. This is a hands‑on, high‑responsibility role ideal for a technician with strong anesthesia experience and confidence in surgical monitoring.
You’ll report directly to the Surgery Supervisor and play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
What You’ll DoPatient & Surgical Support
Admit patients for surgical and outpatient procedures in accordance with hospital protocols.
Perform thorough physical assessments and monitor vital signs.
Prepare anesthesia protocols under veterinarian guidance and calculate medications.
Administer injectable medications (SQ, IM, IV).
Place and maintain IV catheters; calculate fluid therapy and manage fluid pumps.
Anesthesia & Monitoring
Operate and interpret ECG, capnography, pulse oximetry, oscillometric and Doppler blood pressure monitoring.
Safely administer inhalant anesthesia.
Closely monitor anesthetic depth from pre‑op through recovery.
Recognize complications quickly and communicate effectively with the doctor.
Recover patients from anesthesia and assess pain levels.
Collaborate with veterinarians on appropriate pain management plans.
Maintain accurate medical records and log controlled substances per DEA requirements.
Discharge patients under veterinary direction and clearly explain medications and home care instructions to clients.
Surgical Suite & Teamwork
Clean, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and packs.
Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with the entire hospital team.
What We’re Looking ForMinimum 1 year of Veterinary Surgical Technician experience (Required)
Dentistry experience (Strongly Preferred)
Team‑oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast‑paced surgical environment.
