- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicate these objectives to students.
- Plan instruction based upon explicit goals regarding what students should know and be able to do, which also aligns with the English Language Arts Frameworks.
- Create or provide learning experiences that develop students' abilities and require the application of thinking skills.
- Employ a variety of instructional strategies that consider individual learning styles and performance levels.
- Organize instruction around essential questions or core learning objectives; teach for understanding and/or mastery; provide students with practice and extension opportunities as needed.
- Assess student learning on a regular basis using multiple forms of assessment; provide reports of student progress as needed.
- Use assessment data to inform instruction.
- Utilize technology to enhance student learning.
- Create a classroom learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure, and appealing for students and in which mutual respect is shown.

Westford Academy offers a comprehensive, challenging and diverse curriculum, catering to a wide range of student needs and interests. This includes a multitude and variety of course offerings, 20 AP classes, Dual and Concurrent Enrollment Programs, Capstone Experience, specialized programs for special education students, and dedicated programs providing social, emotional, behavioral, and executive functioning support. Beyond academics, students have access to an extensive array of co‑curricular activities.
The school boasts 39 varsity athletic programs, many with sub‑varsity levels. Additionally, over 70 co‑curricular programs are available. The Visual and Performing Arts Department is particularly strong, with successful programs in visual art, music, and a Theater Arts Program that has achieved numerous state championships in the past two decades. These diverse programs provide opportunities for faculty and staff to serve as coaches and advisors, fostering strong, lasting relationships with students.
