NVIDIA is hiring a Custom Platform Performance Engineer to design, model and analyze next generation SoC solutions. We are looking for special individuals with passion and desire to deliver innovative products. Together, we will build the next generation of life changing SoC's. If you are a motivated individual that understands how SoC systems are architected and built, has intimate knowledge of client requirements, and understand various development cycles, this is your place to be
What you'll be doing
- Work with external customers to understand and characterize their unique user workloads, and translate that understanding into resource utilization
- Quickly model user workloads on existing hardware, at both the IP level and the SoC level
- Working with teams through the company, propose modifications to existing IP or new IP to better meet user workloads, provide estimates of performance improvement
- Optimize external customers' applications, including CPU optimizations, GPU (CUDA) optimizations, or ML network optimizations
What we need to see

- 6+ years of relevant work experience focused on CPU, GPU, and HPC architectures.
- Understanding of the many factors influencing power efficiency at chip, system, and product levels.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills.
- A drive to continuously learn and expand architectural breadth and depth.
- High-level understanding of Computer Architecture -- CPUs, GPU, AI accelerator, fabric, DRAM, high-speed SERDES (PCIe, chip-2-chip)
- Workload analysis and characterization. Understand different types of workloads, experience with tools and theory on how to workload analysis. ARM-based tools a plus but not a requirement
- Experience developing and using cycle-accurate and cycle-approximate performance models, and their trade-offs
Ways to stand out from the crowd
- Experience optimizing code (CPU, CUDA, ML networks) for higher performance
- Experience defining custom accelerators, in particular defining SW/HW interface and programming model
- Datacenter TCO calculation
- Pre-Silicon Performance Verification
- Experience developing plans and strategies with Architecture and Design teams to address performance issues.
- Experience creating methodologies for performance analysis.
