Job Summary

The salary range listed is a guide and may vary based on experience, education, location and other qualifications. This Process Engineer will focus on the characterization, optimization and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for infrared thin-film optics. The role emphasizes data-driven decision making, cross-functional collaboration and a commitment to safety, driving innovative solutions and fostering continuous improvement within the team.
Key Responsibilities- Characterize, optimize and continuously improve manufacturing processes for infrared thin-film optics.
- Apply SPC, Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing and root-cause analysis tools to drive data-driven decision making.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality and suppliers to resolve complex technical problems.
- Maintain product quality and operational effectiveness while ensuring safety compliance.
- Document process improvements, analyze data and implement solutions to increase efficiency and reduce defects.
- Work independently in a fast-paced low-volume/high-mix production environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Optics, Chemical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent engineering and process-development experience.
- Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in manufacturing process development, optical coatings by PVD or similar technologies (preferred).
- Experience in a low-volume/high-mix product environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with personnel at all levels, customers and suppliers.
- Demonstrated ability to apply SPC, Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, quality principles and statistical problem-solving.
- Experience with SPC tools, DOE and root-cause analysis methods such as 5-Whys and Fishbone.
- Track record of project management, leading multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
