Position
Senior Program Manager – Fire Detection New Product Introduction (NPI) Program Management Office.
Location:
Westford, MA, hybrid work – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote.
Drive the end-to-end development and commercialization of NPI projects delivering innovative fire detection products across software and hardware domains. Oversee all facets of projects, establish deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor progress, and summarize achievements.
How You Will Do ItLead and manage multiple concurrent NPI programs from concept through launch, ensuring adherence to Johnson Controls’ Product Development Process. Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, QA, Product Management, Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Training, etc.). Develop and maintain integrated project plans with detailed schedules, milestones, budget and risk mitigation. Execute tasks with quality and timeliness, foster continuous improvement, produce comprehensive reports for senior leadership, maintain familiarity with engineering, product development and project management practices, build stakeholder relationships, and uphold organizational values.
WhatWe Look For Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 10+ years of professional experience in electronic product design and NPI within a manufacturing context.
- Hands‑on program management experience with both software and hardware product development.
- Track record of launching complex, cross‑disciplinary products in regulated industries (fire/life safety, automotive, medical devices, etc.).
- Expertise in Agile and traditional project management methodologies.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage change, transition priorities, and make sound decisions.
- Exceptional oral and written communication, analytical, writing and presentation skills.
- Strong conflict‑management and critical‑thinking skills.
- Proficiency in PMI’s PMBOK®.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project and Excel.
- Meticulous attention to detail and technical accuracy.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Proficiency in Visio, JIRA, and Confluence.
- Experience with in the fire protection industry.
- Salary range: $107,000 – $161,000, based on experience and qualifications.
