The Senior Blow Mold Process Engineer will oversee and optimize blow molding operations for packaging at Catania Oils’ on-site facility in Ayer, MA. This full-time role is responsible for designing, developing, and refining blow mold processes to ensure consistent container quality, line efficiency, and cost-effective production. Daily responsibilities include monitoring process parameters, troubleshooting equipment and quality issues, implementing process control strategies, and driving root cause analysis for defects or downtime.
The engineer will collaborate closely with production, maintenance, quality, and safety teams to standardize best practices, support new product or package introductions, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards. The role also includes training operators on process changes, documenting procedures, and leading continuous improvement projects focused on safety, throughput, and waste reduction.
- Strong foundation in Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering
, with experience in blow molding or plastics manufacturing. - Proficiency in Process Design
, including development, scaling, and optimization of blow molding parameters and tooling. - Experience with Process Control
, including monitoring, data collection, statistical process control (SPC), and implementation of stable process conditions. - Advanced Analytical Skills for root cause analysis, problem solving, and data‑driven decision‑making in a production environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or a related technical field; an advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in a senior or lead engineering role within packaging, blow molding, or similar high‑volume manufacturing.
- Familiarity with food or beverage packaging requirements, quality systems, and relevant safety and regulatory standards.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to train and mentor technical and production staff.
- Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work on‑site in Westford, MA, and be present on the production floor as needed.
