Senior Principal EO​/IR Systems Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to specialize in aspects of the development lifecycle of airborne electro‑optical/infrared sensor systems. The role includes design, prototype, manufacture, integration, test, and transition to production, and requires working independently and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

• Provide technical leadership for the development of airborne EO/IR sensor systems from architecture through requirements verification and qualification.
• Transform customer needs into system level requirements and work with all engineering functions to decompose and allocate requirements to sub‑systems and components with full traceability.
• Develop and refine CONOPS and System Architecture using Model‑Based Systems Engineering methods.
• Execute modeling and simulation of system‑level performance under operational conditions.
• Develop and execute integration, system, and flight test plans.
• Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including program office, other engineering disciplines, customers, and suppliers.
• Develop products and implement design changes in accordance with engineering processes.
• Perform Control Account Management duties for scope, cost, and schedule.

• U.S. citizenship is required; only U.S. citizens can access information under this program/contract.
• STEM degree and 10+ years of prior work experience in a related field.
• Experience with the product development lifecycle of EO/IR imaging systems, including architecture, requirements, design, modeling & simulation, and/or testing.
• Proficiency in requirements development and management, system design and integration, test plan and procedure development, verification and test, and data analysis.

• Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• Experience with optics and/or focal plane designs.
• Experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML), Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and EO/IR sensor modeling and simulation using tools such as Matlab and Cameo Systems Modeler.
• Technical leadership on projects, including development of cost and schedule estimates, risk management, and supplier technical management.
• Experience leading engineering development projects, including design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).

• Salary range: $132,400 – $251,600 USD.
