** About the job you’re considering
** We are seeking an experienced Embedded System Test Engineer to work on system-level and hardware testing of our Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) imaging platform. With a background in electrical or mechanical engineering, the engineer will verify the integrated behavior of the embedded system and its optical, electrical, and mechanical subsystems, alongside the Windows-based application. The role involves designing and executing system and hardware test setups, characterizing performance, and ensuring compliance with applicable medical device safety and design standards.
** Your role
*** Plan, design, and execute system-level and hardware verification tests for the embedded OCT imaging platform, covering integration of optical, electrical, and mechanical subsystems.
* Build, configure, and operate hardware test setups, including instrumentation, fixtures, and data acquisition for performance and reliability characterization.
* Verify hardware and system behavior against requirements and design specifications, analyzing measured data to confirm conformance.
* Investigate and root-cause system-level failures, working with hardware, software, and systems engineering to drive resolution.
* Maintain test documentation, traceability, and reports in compliance with the quality management system and regulatory standards.
** Your skills and experience
*** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field.
* Minimum 3 + years of strong experience in medical device development, including design verification, testing, and compliance with standards such as IEC 60601, IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.
* Solid background in hardware and embedded systems engineering, including electronics, electrical systems, EMC, and hardware testing.
* Proficiency in software development, test automation, and scripting/programming, preferably with Python and LabVIEW.
* Hands-on experience with system integration, data acquisition, and troubleshooting, using tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators.
* Knowledge of medical imaging technologies and healthcare systems, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
