The System Administrator will support one of the nation’s leading defense research organizations focused on advanced sensor systems and space object information. IT support is critical to the mission‑critical operations and the development of our sensor systems.
MustHave
- Clearance Level: Currently holds a Secret Clearance (or higher).
- 3 years experience with Security plans (RMF), procedures, and compliance with DoD directive 8140.
- 3 years Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- 3 years Troubleshooting network issues.
- 3 years Scripting and Task Automation.
- 3 years Linux Environment.
- 5 years Systems Administration.
- 3 years System Documentation.
- Enterprise hardware & software applications (VMWare ESX, Cisco/Juniper, NetAPP, Networker, Ansible).
- Mission Critical Environments.
- Programming Languages (Perl, Python, C/C++).
- Specify, design, implement, and test network and computer system configurations and upgrades.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement network security plans and measures in accordance with government and organizational policies.
- Identify system performance issues, assess user needs, and recommend specific changes and upgrades.
- Perform data backups and recoveries; assist staff with computer and network problems and tasks.
- Research and recommend commercial hardware and software products to meet project and group requirements.
- Order hardware and software products; renew software licenses to ensure continuity of service.
- Interact with vendors, organizational personnel, Security, and other system administrators to coordinate procurements, installations, upgrades, and other services.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Team‑oriented; able to create documentation on systems to satisfy certification, technical staff, and end‑user needs.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking problems.
- Experience working in a Linux environment.
- Experience with security plans (RMF) and compliance with DoD directive 8140.
- PTO – 15 days (vacation/sick), 10 paid holidays, 1.5 paid days for volunteer work, 1 week of paid maternity/paternity leave after 1 year full‑time.
- Tuition & Training Reimbursement – Up to $5,000 annually for approved, job‑related courses for employees who have completed at least six months of employment. Must achieve a grade of “B” or better.
- 401K with Fidelity – Eligible to participate after 90 days; company match up to 3% with additional match for higher contributions; fully vested from day one.
- Cell Phone & Internet Reimbursed – Up to $150 monthly for cell phone, data, and home internet expenses for employees working remotely 2 days a week or more.
- Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) – Up to $1,500 every 3 years for eligible electronic devices; requires completion of a Device Minimum Configuration Form.
Work Schedule
: 100% onsite due to the nature of the work. Some remote flexibility may be available on a case‑by‑case basis.
