Job Description
EDM Set-Up Operator, Westford, MA, F/T Direct Hire, $35 -$40 pr/hr
We are seeking an experienced EDM Set-Up Person/Operator to join our clients growing manufacturing team in Westford, MA. This role is ideal for a skilled machinist with experience in Wire EDM, Conventional EDM, and/or Hole Popper operations who takes pride in producing high-quality, precision components.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate Wire EDM, Conventional EDM, and/or Hole Popper equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, travelers, process sheets, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Load and verify programs for repeat jobs.
- Confirm revision levels and documentation accuracy before production.
- Install fixtures, mount work pieces, and select appropriate wire materials and diameters.
- Perform machine setups and initiate machining operations.
- Monitor machine controls and verify operating parameters according to setup documentation.
- Conduct first-piece inspections using precision measuring tools.
- Obtain Quality Inspector approval before production runs.
- Support EDM operators and assist with troubleshooting and workflow improvements.
- Maintain accurate production documentation and departmental records.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Experience setting up and operating EDM equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of EDM machining processes and best practices.
- Ability to read blueprints and work from technical documentation.
- Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
