Neitzel, Luke, & Salopek, Inc. is seeking an experienced tax professional to oversee the preparation and review of a wide range of tax engagements while supporting client advisory and tax planning initiatives. This role works closely with individuals, trusts, nonprofit organizations, and business entities, and requires strong technical knowledge, analytical ability, and client communication skills. The Supervisor – Tax will collaborate with the Tax Manager to support staff development, maintain quality control standards, and deliver timely, accurate client service.
Responsibilities& Duties
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, trusts, nonprofit organizations, and various business entities
- Prepare tax projections, quarterly estimates, extension calculations, and other tax planning deliverables for clients
- Conduct technical tax research and clearly document conclusions and recommendations related to tax compliance and planning matters
- Analyze tax returns and financial information to identify errors, inconsistencies, planning opportunities, and areas requiring follow-up
- Communicate directly with clients to request information, answer questions, discuss tax matters
- Manage the resolution of IRS, state, and municipal tax notices and related correspondence
- Work closely with the Tax Manager to support and mentor staff and senior accountants, helping develop technical knowledge and engagement management skills
- Review work prepared by team members and provide constructive feedback to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to Firm standards
- Propose and communicate adjusting journal entries and other recommendations to clients as needed
- Collaborate with Firm leadership to identify workflow efficiencies and process improvements that enhance both the client and employee experience
- Manage multiple engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Minimum of 5 years of public accounting experience required
- CPA license or active pursuit of CPA certification strongly preferred
- Experience preparing and reviewing tax returns for multiple entity types, including individuals, businesses, trusts, and nonprofits
- Experience preparing tax projections, quarterly estimates, and tax planning analyses
- Experience responding to and resolving IRS, state, and municipal tax notices
- Quick Books experience strongly preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and tax preparation software
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and compliance requirements
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients, team members, and Firm leadership
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to research and interpret tax matters
- Ability to independently manage workload, prioritize tasks, and meet internal and external deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and support team development
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment
