Logo Design Brief
Project:
Logo design for a new premium commercial development in Westlake, Ohio. We are exploring two finalist names:
1. North & Pine 2. The Canopy. Please develop logo concepts for either or both names.
About the development:
The project will initially include eight approximately 2,500 sq. ft. commercial spaces built with mass timber construction. The spaces are intended primarily for professional, creative, and wellness businesses such as architects, designers, agencies, consultants, professional service firms, yoga/wellness businesses, etc. The property is intentionally different from a typical office park. It features large windows, natural materials, preserved green space, walking areas, water/pond features, and strong biophilic design.
The feel:
Creative Peaceful Natural Premium Modern Refined. The owner described the goal as: "I want people to think, 'I want to be at this place.'" Visual direction:
Natural and refined. Think sophisticated architecture/hospitality branding rather than a traditional commercial real estate logo. Nature should influence the identity, but the logo does not need to literally contain a tree, pine tree, leaf, or building. We like identities that use simple, clever shapes or abstract references to nature, landscape, paths, topography, light, or place.
Reference feel: 1 Hotels Regent's Place Natural Habitat The High Line. What to avoid:
- Generic office park branding
- Corporate real estate look
- Rustic/cabin branding
- Obvious clip-art trees or leaves
- Construction company appearance
- Overly complicated logos
- Anything that feels cheap or suburban-strip-mall.
Important:
The logo will eventually appear on a large exterior monument sign, building signage, website, leasing materials, and way finding. It must therefore work well:
- Large on signage
- Small digitally
- In one color
- Without gradients or effects
- As both a wordmark and recognizable brand mark. We are looking for an identity that feels timeless, distinctive, understated and premium.
