Job Summary
The Federal Tax Manager will lead U.S. domestic corporate income tax compliance, provision, and planning activities. This role ensures accurate and timely tax filings, effective tax planning strategies, and proper accounting for income taxes under ASC
740. The position collaborates closely with international and state tax leads and cross‑functional teams to support global tax initiatives. The ideal candidate brings tax technical expertise along with strong project management and communication skills.
- Oversee and detail‑review U.S. Federal Consolidated 1120, extensions, estimated payments, and supporting work papers and memos.
- Assist with quarterly and annual domestic income tax provision under ASC
740, including financial statement disclosures and audit documentation. - Reconcile tax filings to provisions, support deferred tax balances, and prepare tax account reconciliations.
- Ensure SOX compliance through documentation and timely performance of controls.
- Monitor legislative developments affecting U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws in collaboration with SALT specialist.
- Support domestic tax audits and respond to tax authority inquiries, ensuring appropriate documentation and defense strategies.
- Manage completion of the U.S. R&D tax credit study.
- Conduct tax research as needed and document resulting tax positions.
- Partner with state and international tax teams to ensure cohesive execution of global tax strategy.
- Work closely with finance and cash‑management teams to forecast cash tax needs and manage timely payments.
- Maintain regular cadence of communication with Treasury team regarding loans, dividends, and transfer pricing initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with NBSNext principles, fostering simplification and value creation.
- Document tax processes for knowledge sharing, internal controls, and audit defense.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify process improvements and implement tax technology tools and solutions.
- Support tax transformation initiatives including automation and data analytics.
- Supervise and mentor tax staff, fostering technical growth and professional development.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and cross‑training initiatives within the tax function.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited institution is required. CPA or advanced degree (MST or JD) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of corporate domestic tax experience with a Big4 or publicly traded multinational corporation. Proven experience with ASC
740, financial reporting, and tax provision software. Experience with One Stream, SAP, and OTP/OIT preferred.
Hybrid work environment. Minimal travel required, usually locally, but may include international duties to assist with board meetings and events.
