Description

The Welder must be capable of performing a variety of welding functions and using various types of welding equipment. Additional miscellaneous tasks may be assigned as required by supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain, repair, rebuild and fabricate parts for all types of industrial equipment
  • Perform MIG, arc and TIG welding, layout, and pipe fitting functions
  • Comply with plant, state and federal safety regulations, general work rules, lock‑out procedures and personal protective equipment requirements
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions
  • Examine welds for bead size and other specifications
  • Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes
  • Position and clamp work pieces together, or assemble them in jigs or fixtures
  • Select appropriate torch, torch tip, filler rod and flux according to welding chart specifications or material type and thickness
  • Tack assemblies together
  • Chip off excess weld, slag and spatter
  • Clean or de‑grease parts
  • Perform maintenance and repair on all welding equipment
  • Move parts and finished product in and out of the welding area as needed
  • Complete any other duties as assigned
Requirements Education

A high school diploma or GED is required; military experience, trade or technical school background preferred.

Experience & Skills
  • Obtain a D14.1 certification at a G1‑G4 position within 30 days of hire
  • At least 2 years’ experience in metal fabrication or an equivalent environment
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Knowledge of applicable manufacturers and industry standards (CMAA, HMI, ANSI, OSHA)
  • Lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Self‑motivated, disciplined, detail‑oriented, and able to multitask
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, physical, drug screen and E‑Verify
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
