Position: Small Engine Technician Full-Time
Location: Westlake, OH
Small Engine Technician Full-TimeE&H Ace Hardware is seeking a reliable and mechanically inclined Small Engine Technician to join our service team. This role focuses on the repair, maintenance, and servicing of small engine equipment—including mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, generators, and more. If you have strong problem‑solving skills, a mechanical mindset, and a desire to help customers keep their equipment running smoothly, we want to hear from you.
We’re open to training candidates with the right mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic. Whether you're experienced or just getting started, you'll have access to training and certification, including Stihl Silver Certification within your first year.
Signing BonusWe’re now offering a$1,500 signing bonus for new full‑time Small Engine Technicians!
The bonus is paid in three installments:
$500 after 90 days of employment
$500 after 180 days of employment
$500 after 270 days of employment
What You’ll Do:Diagnose and repair a variety of small engine equipment
Perform preventative maintenance to keep tools and machinery in top condition
Test repaired equipment to ensure full functionality and safety
Maintain service records and equipment documentation
Order and install parts as needed
Customer InteractionCommunicate effectively with customers to understand issues and explain repair needs
Provide guidance on equipment care and recommend appropriate maintenance
Assist with selection of replacement parts and accessories
Shop Maintenance & SafetyKeep the shop clean, organized, and free of safety hazards
Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good condition
Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a secure work environment
Training & Technical GrowthStay current on small engine technologies and new repair methods
Attend required manufacturer trainings and pursue relevant certifications
What You’ll Bring:Mechanical aptitude with a willingness to learn
Familiarity with small engine systems and diagnostic tools
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks requiring bending, crouching, and extended standing
Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required
Certifications in small engine repair preferred but not required
On‑the‑job training available for motivated, mechanically inclined individuals
Other RequirementsSatisfactory background check required
Must be willing to travel for training (including overnight stays)
Completion of Stihl Silver Certification within 12 months of hire
