Job Summary

The SITT Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and supervising students who are in need of a break or timeout to prevent disruptive behavior, and/or assigned to in‑school suspension (ISS) or lunch detention. This role ensures a structured, quiet, and orderly environment where students can complete classwork and reflect on their behavior. Duties include taking attendance, enforcing school rules and expectations, maintaining a safe and respectful atmosphere, communicating with administration and teachers regarding student behavior and assignments, and supporting students in staying on task.

The supervisor models professionalism, consistency, and fairness while holding students accountable to school policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor students assigned to SITT.
  • Enforce school rules, behavioral expectations, and disciplinary guidelines.
  • Ensure a structured, safe, and respectful learning environment.
  • Take attendance and maintain accurate records of student participation.
  • Distribute and collect assignments from classroom teachers; support students in staying on task, completing assignments/projects/assessments, etc.
  • Communicate with teachers, counselors, and administrators regarding student behavior and progress.
  • Address minor behavioral issues promptly and report major concerns to administration.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating fairness, consistency, and respect.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent (some college or experience in education preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, consistent, and professional in managing student behavior.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for recordkeeping.
  • Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining firm expectations.
  • Patience, fairness, and a student‑centered approach.
  • Basic computer skills for attendance and reporting.
  • Experience working with students in an educational or supervisory setting is preferred.
